Wow, if only the food looked like the picture. I had lunch out today and ordered what was described on the menu as A Philly Cheese Steak Baguette (A baked baguette with tender slices of rump steak, sauteed red onions smothered in a delicious nacho cheese sauce, topped with chopped chives) all for £10.29
I was quite excited for my lunch as I skipped breakfast so was feeling quite ready for some good food however when it came to my table I was somewhat underwhelmed. It was on a long white plate with a handful of chips which seemed okay and then this softish baguette cut in half with some steak cubed (not strips) and burnt red onions and a quantity of nacho cheese sauce that I couldn't even taste. Such a lovely sized restaurant. The space is great especially if you are taking all the family but the food is just average.
How would I have improved this dish. To start with I would have cut the steak into strips so it is exactly what the menu describes. I would have added a garnish of salad and coleslaw to the plate to make it seem much more inviting and enjoyable. Plenty of the nacho cheese and if I had burnt the onions whilst cooking this for a customer I would have started again. These few small changes would have improved my experience in this restaurant.
